Women’s Health: From Puberty to Motherhood

Last week, Purium kicked off our Women’s Health Series of Product Education Zooms with an in-depth zoom on nutrition for young girls. In part 2, Purium Co-founder Amy Venner continues the series by focusing on the puberty through pregnancy phase of a woman’s life. As someone who currently has 2 teenage daughters, Amy is very familiar with this critical stage. Let’s recap what we learned!

Precocious Puberty

After briefly introducing what female puberty is, Amy dived into what many children are experiencing today which is called precocious puberty, which is simply early puberty. There are 2 types of precocious puberty, central and peripheral. Central is the more common type and occurs when your child’s brain releases sex hormones too early.

Peripheral occurs as a result of problems with your child’s ovaries or adrenal glands. Sometimes it results from hormone and chemical exposure from the environment. In today’s beauty conscious world, this is something that is something to be very aware of.

The beauty industry’s most common endocrine-disrupting chemicals are parabens, plastics, phthalates, and pesticides. In addition to those chemicals, microplastics, pesticides, and phytoestrogens that can naturally occur in soy can play a role. This is a reason why we have stressed the importance that soy should not be consumed on a daily basis for young girls and young women.

The rise of precocious puberty can also be linked to things like obesity and eating highly processed foods. This is something Amy personally noticed in herself and those around her growing up in Texas with a very dairy-based diet.

As she became more knowledgeable about nutrition, she made it an emphasis to provide her kids organic food and limit their exposure to chemically enhanced products. And that emphasis paid off as she noticed that her girls experienced puberty at a more appropriate age than she did.

Where Purium Fits In

After learning about precocious puberty, Amy shifted her focus on how Purium can fit in and help provide nutrition for kids so they can decrease their chances of developing precocious puberty.

2 of our most popular superfoods for kids are Power Shake and Epi-Genius Family. We’ve received countless reports from parents over the years singing from the rooftops about how much their kids are obsessed with these 2 shakes.

When your kids are getting organic, green foods, it will help eliminate and detoxify the other chemicals they are being exposed to in the form of makeup, lotions, soaps, etc.

Our mission at Purium is to make drinking green drinks as cool as the content kids see on TikTok, Instagram, and other social media platforms that are exposing them to potentially harmful products that are affecting their development.

Child Bearing Years

After discussing the teenage years, Amy began to talk about the childbearing years of a woman’s life. From her extensive experience of hearing from the many moms of the Purium Community, the best way to prepare for the 9 months of carrying a child is to cleanse and detoxify your body with an Ultimate Lifestyle Transformation.

Other pre-pregnancy products you can add to your list that are super helpful when detoxing are Fulvic Zeolite and Cracked Cell Chlorella. These help detoxify the heavy metals like lead and mercury from the body and the chlorella will help bind those up and guide them out of the body.

White American Ginseng is another great superfood for women during this phase. These will help keep hormones balanced.

First Trimester

When you transition into the 1st trimester of your pregnancy, we recommend:

2nd Trimester

When transitioning to the 2nd trimester stop Super Meal L.O.V. There is some evidence that there is a phytochemical found in the flax seed that could cause contractions. Products we recommend are:

One important thing to note is that Super Amino 23 can help prevent stretch marks as your child grows in your body. This is something Amy personally noted during her pregnancies as she made sure to take plenty of Super Amino 23.

3rd Trimester

And finally, during the 3rd trimester, products we recommend are:

Make sure to tune into next week’s Product Education Zoom on Wednesday, May 15 at 4pm PT with Dave to continue our Women’s Health Series and learn about the postmenopausal phase of a woman’s life!
