Millions of people are on GLP-1 medications, and most are unknowingly losing muscle, collagen, and critical nutrients along the way.

Supporting GLP-1 Users with Nutrient Dense Superfoods
GLP-1 medications have rapidly become one of the most widely used pharmaceutical approaches for weight loss. Millions of people are now using medications such as semaglutide or similar therapies to help manage appetite and improve metabolic health. While these medications can be effective for weight loss, they often come with nutritional challenges that many people do not fully anticipate.
During this special product education call, Dave Sandoval addressed a growing need within the wellness space. Many people using GLP-1 medications experience reduced appetite, which naturally leads to eating less food overall. While this can support weight loss, it can also result in lower nutrient intake, reduced protein consumption, and other unintended consequences.
Research referenced during the presentation highlighted several common concerns among GLP-1 users. Approximately 22 percent of people on these medications develop nutrient deficiencies within the first year, while up to 40 percent of weight lost may come from lean muscle and collagen rather than fat alone. Additionally, many individuals already fall below recommended levels of essential nutrients such as vitamin D, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and B vitamins. When food intake drops, those gaps can become even larger.
Dave emphasized that the goal is not to discourage people from using GLP-1 medications if they are working with a doctor. Instead, the focus is on providing nutritional support that helps protect the body during weight loss.
Why Nutritional Support Matters
GLP-1 medications reduce appetite, slow digestion, and often decrease the amount of food someone wants to eat. While that helps create a calorie deficit, it also means the body may receive fewer essential nutrients and less protein. This can lead to several side effects including muscle loss, skin laxity, fatigue, digestive issues, and disrupted sleep patterns.
Muscle preservation is especially important during weight loss. Lean muscle plays a key role in metabolism, circulation, and overall physical health. When muscle mass declines, the body may experience slower metabolic function and reduced energy levels.
Collagen depletion is another common concern. Rapid weight loss can reduce skin elasticity, which sometimes results in sagging skin or the appearance commonly referred to as “Ozempic face.” Supporting collagen production and maintaining adequate protein intake can help mitigate these effects.
The Purium Support Approach
Dave explained that Purium’s superfood based nutrition system can complement GLP-1 therapy by helping fill nutritional gaps while keeping calorie intake relatively low.
Two program options were introduced.
The first is the Ultimate Lifestyle Transformation (ULT), which replaces two meals per day with nutrient dense superfood shakes and includes a full protocol designed to support protein intake, gut health, micronutrient balance, and sleep quality.
The second option is the LTD program, which replaces one meal per day and offers a simpler long term routine that still provides essential nutrition while being easier for many people to maintain over time.
Both protocols focus on providing highly concentrated nutrition through whole food ingredients and targeted supplementation.
Key Products Highlighted
Several core products were discussed as part of the GLP-1 support protocol.
Power Shake and Dark Berry Protein form the nutritional foundation by delivering concentrated plant based superfoods, antioxidants, and collagen supporting nutrients.
Super Amino 23 provides essential amino acids designed to support muscle maintenance and protein synthesis while taking up very little space in the stomach. This is particularly helpful for individuals experiencing appetite suppression or nausea.
Alpha Omega supplies algae sourced omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA, which support brain health, skin integrity, heart health, and inflammation balance.
Biome Medic focuses on gut health by supporting the microbiome and helping improve nutrient absorption, which becomes especially important when food intake is reduced.
Sleep Nightly addresses another common challenge among GLP-1 users. Many individuals report disrupted sleep patterns while using these medications, yet sleep quality plays a major role in metabolism and fat loss.
Finally, Zinc Aid helps replenish important micronutrients including zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, and beta carotene that are commonly deficient when overall calorie intake drops.
Why a Holistic Strategy Matters
Throughout the presentation, Dave emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to weight loss. Pharmaceuticals may help regulate appetite and support fat loss, but nutrition, sleep, and gut health remain critical components of long term success.
By combining GLP-1 therapy with nutrient dense superfoods, high quality protein, essential fatty acids, and targeted supplementation, individuals may be able to support healthier weight loss while protecting muscle, maintaining collagen, and avoiding nutrient deficiencies.
The goal is not simply losing weight. The goal is supporting the body during the process so people can feel stronger, healthier, and more energized along the way.
